ABOUT dolores
Dolores Barton is a compassionate Clinical Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families overcome life's emotional challenges through evidence-based, trauma-informed care. She earned her Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida, where she developed advanced clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and therapeutic counseling.
Dolores believes every person's story deserves to be heard with compassion, dignity, and respect. She understands that trauma, grief, relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, and significant life transitions can leave lasting emotional wounds that affect every aspect of life. Her therapeutic style combines warmth, empathy, authenticity, and clinical professionalism to create a safe environment where clients feel genuinely supported while working toward meaningful and lasting change.
During her graduate clinical training, Dolores completed supervised counseling practicum and internship experiences through the University of South Florida Counseling Center and community-based behavioral health settings, including providing supportive services within a battered women's shelter. These experiences strengthened her ability to work with individuals experiencing crisis, trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, family conflict, adjustment difficulties, and other complex emotional concerns while maintaining the highest standards of ethical practice and client confidentiality.
"Healing begins when people feel genuinely heard, accepted, and understood. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate environment where clients can process life's challenges, discover their strengths, and build lasting emotional wellness. I believe that every individual possesses the capacity for resilience, growth, and meaningful change, and it is a privilege to walk alongside them on that journey."
Her approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, recognizing how adverse life experiences influence emotional, relational, cognitive, and behavioral functioning. Dolores works collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, develop healthy coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, restore hope, and foster resilience. She believes healing occurs when individuals feel emotionally safe enough to explore their experiences while discovering their own capacity for growth and transformation.
Dolores integrates evidence-based counseling approaches with a person-centered philosophy that honors each client's unique background, values, culture, and personal goals. She strives to empower clients by helping them build healthier relationships, increase self-awareness, overcome barriers to healing, and develop practical skills for long-term emotional wellness.
